What is the difference between washi tape and PET tape?

Washi tape is made from Japanese-style rice paper: it is matte, easy to tear by hand and accepts ink from gel pens and pencils. PET tape uses a thin polyester film that is glossy, transparent or semi-transparent and needs scissors. We use washi for base layers and journaling, and PET for translucent layering, frames and overlays.

What widths and lengths do Simply Gilded tapes come in?

Our core washi rolls are produced in 10mm and 15mm widths at 10m per roll, with wide-format and diecut scallop rolls made to order in 20mm to 30mm. PET rolls are typically 15mm to 25mm at 5m. Every set lists its exact width, length and foil finish on the product page.

Is the foil on your washi tape suitable for writing and layering?

Yes. We use a low-relief hot-stamp foil that stays flush with the paper surface, so rolls stack cleanly without ridges and still accept gel pen and pencil over unfoiled areas. Holographic and glitter foils are sealed to reduce flaking during repositioning.

How does the Simply Gilded subscription box work?

Each month our studio designs a themed kit around one colour story. A kit typically contains exclusive washi tape, a sticker kit and our signature pen, and it ships with free domestic shipping. Themes are announced in advance and past themes are retired, which is why each box is a limited edition.

Do you ship internationally and how are returns handled?

We ship worldwide from our United States studio. Returns and exchanges are handled by our in-house customer care team under the terms published on our Returns & Exchanges page, and EU customers can also use the statutory withdrawal process.
